I have been away from the computers for a short amount of time, as I went to go visit my mother and help out with the commune down there and, of course, I had work at night so that cuts into any time on these machines. I do miss living down there at times, as the people there are so welcoming and open, and not like a majority of the people I've met up here.

This made my day, though, and I am so glad that someone else posted about it. It's refreshing to see some people taking an interest in the ways of the world outside of the United States.

Also, I found a paper on the way out of class today. There is no name on it, and I do not want to post the subject of the paper in fear of possibly embarrassing the person that wrote it, but if you are missing a paper (perhaps it is a rough draft?), just let me know and I will be more than happy to return it to you. Even if what you wrote is completely wrong.

How any government can allow punishment by stoning, I have no idea, but Iran has sentenced Kobra Najjar to die as such. Kobra is a victim of domestic violence who was forced into prostitution by her abusive husband in order to support his heroine addiction. He was murdered by one of Kobra's "clients" who sympathized with her plight. Kobra has already served 8 years in prison as an accessory to her husband's murder. The man who murdered her husband also served 8 years in prison and is now free after paying blood money and undergoing 100 lashes, while Kobra faces imminent stoning to death for adultery - the prostitution her husband forced upon her.

It pains me to think that people can be so heartless. I understand that the murder was wrong, but for her to be killed for something her husband forced on her? And to be killed in such an inhumane way? It is a travesty to humanity as a whole.

Also, I will be starting a drive to collect clothing and food for the homeless shelters around the state. We have so much, when so many other people have nothing, and we should be doing what we can to help them. I'll be playing the guitar down on the grass by the Eisner building tomorrow afternoon, and anyone that wants to donate, I'll have a table set up, along with some fliers for information. I'm going to try to get some media coverage to come by for both, so anything that people can do will be very much appreciated. Perhaps someone from A/V could help out?

I don't know if You can hear me
Or if You're even there
I don't know if You would listen
To a gypsy's prayer
Yes, I know I'm just an outcast
I shouldn't speak to you
Still I see Your face and wonder...
Were You once an outcast too?

God help the outcasts
Hungry from birth
Show them the mercy
They don't find on earth
God help my people
We look to You still
God help the outcasts
Or nobody will

I ask for wealth
I ask for fame
I ask for glory to shine on my name
I ask for love I can possess
I ask for God and His angels to bless me

I ask for nothing
I can get by
But I know so many
Less lucky than I
Please help my people
The poor and downtrod
I thought we all were
The children of God
God help the outcasts, Children of God. )
